BASELINE

employment legislation

employment legislation

Unfortunately today we live in an increasingly litigious society with many law firms operating 'no win - no fee' arrangements. We can ensure you remain compliant and up-to-date with the key legislation required for any small business on an ongoing basis.

We can provide information on the basic acts of Employment legislation together with your contractual obligations. We can also help write any related policies & procedures that you may wish to implement for your own business requirements. The types of policies that we can write for you include:

  • Maternity, Paternity, Parental Leave and Flexible Working Arrangements
  • Working Time Directive
  • Absence Management Processes
  • Dignity at Work (including Bullying & Harassment)
  • Data Protection, Confidentiality & Whistle-blowing
  • Alcohol & Drug Abuse
  • Grievance & Disciplinary Procedures

These can all be formulated into an 'Employee Handbook' for ease of reference. In addition we can design your contracts of employment and answer any Frequently Asked Questions that you may come across. E-mail us now by clicking on Contact with your request.

Basic Acts
This section covers the main Employment Legislation Acts that govern the way we all must work - namely the Sex, Race and Disability Discrimination Acts. We can provide information on the key components of each or answer your specific questions in relation to these. Furthermore we are able to advise on the Maternity Bill, the Working Time Directive (1998), the Data Protection Act and the recently introduced 'Family Friendly Policies'. The Health & Safety Act (1974) is of paramount importance for any business - again we can advise you on how to remain compliant and satisfy the requirements of the EHO and the HSE.

Contractual Obligations
Contracts can be a minefield for those not used to compiling them (you are never quite sure what should and should not be included!) We can give you guidance on how to draw up your own contracts of employment and we can also give direction on such issues as holiday entitlement, sick pay, break policies and notice periods to name but a few. We can also guide you through the correct way to make changes to contracts of employment and the pitfalls to avoid.

Related policies & procedures
You may well want to draw up company policies and procedures to reflect both the current legislation that exists and the part you play in being a fair employer. We can help you design these polices covering everything from E-mail usage, dress code, dignity at work, harassment, malpractice and equality of terms & conditions; to name but a few. You may also want to make use of our Frequently Asked Questions header that addresses common queries in relation to policies and procedures.
